In this final match, Coach Duong Ngoc Hung made some offense adjustments and used striker Bawa (in probation period) right from the first minute to pair with Thanh Sang. In addition, at the middle line, Atako - another foreign player in probation period – paired with Cruz. More interestingly, the game featured a middle-line encounter between ex-comrades Cruz and Bruno. Formerly in Binh Dinh FC, Bruno played at the center back position; when he joined HCMC FC, he was assigned by coach Dang Tran Chinh as a center midfielder.

Immediately after the starting whistle, both teams offered quite an exciting playing style. At the 60th minute, from a left-wing free kick, Bruno scored a header and shortened the gap down to 1-2. At the 82nd minute, goalkeeper Dong Vinh was given a direct red card following his foul with the second-half striker Fabio. Referee Vo Van Vinh gave SBFC a direct free kick near the penalty area. Midfielder Cruz released a difficult kick and concluded the game at 3-1.
