Minister Pham Khoi Nguyen to visit SQC Titanium slag manufacture |

On 09 Dec, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Pham Khoi Nguyen visited and worked at the titanium slag manufacture. This is the biggest Titanium mining and processing plant at the present, invested and managed by Saigon - Quy Nhon Mining Corporation (SQC, a member of Saigon Invest Group - SGI). At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Tran Trieu Thanh – CEO of SQC briefly reported on the performance of the plant. Ms. Thanh said that SQC titanium slag plant was put into operation on July 24, 2009, with the total investment of 1,000 billion VND and a capacity of 6,300 KVA. By design, Period 1 includes 2 furnaces with the output of 24,000 tons of slag products per year (93% purity) and 12,000 tons of high-endurance iron products per year. In the second phase, the plant will add three more furnaces, raising the production to 36,000 tons of slag per year and 18,000 tons of iron per year. In total, the 5 furnaces let out a stable production of 60,000 slag tons per year and 30,000 iron tons per year. SQC is also an environmental-friendly plant, spending a large budget to invest in the process of environmental protection at the cost of up to 30% of the total investment, according to the quality control system 14001. After listening to the report, Minister Pham Khoi Nguyen appreciated the performance of the titanium manufacture, as well as the efforts of the whole staff, especially in the mission to guarantee the principle: No environmental pollution. Especially, the Minister requested the plant leaders to promote the strengths of technology to create slag products of high quality high-value, contributing to boost up the socio-economic development of the region.
