March 25, 2010 - The U.S., France, Australia and Canada consulate’s delegation spent a day visiting SQC Titanium Slag Manufacture, developed and managed by Saigon - Quy Nhon Mining Corporation (SQC, a member of Saigon Invest Group - SGI). This is the largest and most advanced Titanium mining and processing plant in Vietnam at the present.

 Saigon - Quy Nhon Mining Corporation (SQC) is a member of Saigon Invest Group. The Consul General’s visit reaffirmed SQC’s reputation in the country and even the Southeast Asia region. It also reflects SGI’s proper direction in its development strategy shifting from industrial parks development sector to add mineral mining and processing to its portfolio.

SQC titanium slag factory was built on area of 10ha in Phu My District, Binh Dinh Province, with total investment capital of 1,000 B VND. The production line used the most advanced technology available today. Titanium furnace has capacity of 6.300KVA with superior features and benefits like energy saving, automatic production line and mechanical handling equipment, efficient waste management. Slag can be developed into different products like Pigment, Titanium Dioxite, Sponge, Titanium Alloy ...

First Phase 1 consists of two furnaces of the plant, producing 24,000 tons of titanium slag per year and 12,000 tons of white cast iron per year. Titan's own product slag Company purity up to 93%, a titanium product purity and the highest in the country and region. Complete the second phase; the plant will have a total of five furnaces with a production of 60,000 tons of titanium slag and 30,000 tons of white cast iron per year. When the factory is put in use, it will create jobs for thousands of local workers and contribute hundreds of billions to the tax budget each year, making remarkable contribution to the general development of the country.

SQc also spend tup to 30% of their total budget on the dirt treatment process according to the quality control system 14001. SQC has hired experienced experts from abroad for installation of machinery and equipment. The plant’s machinery and equipment quality are compatible with the Vietnam environmental policies.

Titanium and titanium compounds ranked fourth in industrial use, especially in aerospace industry, nuclear, missiles, machinery equipments and materials, medicine equipments ... Currently, Titan is consider strategic metal in some countries. Titanium demand is increasing both domestic and international market. The introduction of SQC Titanium slag factory helped to open up a new era for the mining sector in Quy Nhon and Vietnam in general, while improving exploitation efficiency and producing products with high economic value.
