Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai to visit SQC Titanium slag plant |

On January 19, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai visited the Titanium slag plant invested and managed by Saigon - Quy Nhon Mining Corporation (SQC, member of Saigon Invest Group - SGI). This is by far the biggest Titanium exploiting and manufacturing plant in Vietnam.
Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Thien - Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee and several leaders from the province’s departments. Receiving the delegation, there were Mr. Dang Thanh Tam - Chairman of SGI, Ms. Nguyen Tran Trieu Thanh – General Director of SQC and Mr. Dang Nhut – SGI's Deputy Chairman together with the whole staff of SQC. At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Tran Trieu Thanh briefly reported on production performance of the plant during the past period. Ms. Thanh said SQC titanium slag plant officially went to operation on 24 July 2009 with the total investment of VND 1,000 billion. According to the design, Phase 1 includes two furnaces with the output of approximately 24,000 tons of slag products per year (purity 93%) and 12,000 tons of white cast iron per year. In Phase 2, three more furnaces will be added, increasing the capacity by 36,000 tons of Titanium slag (clarity 93%) and 18,000 tons of high-endurance iron per year. In total, the capacity of these 5 furnaces reaches 60,000 tons of Titanium slag and 30,000 tons of white cast iron per year. In his discussion with SQC leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai complimented on the achievements SQC had achieved in recent years as well as the efficiency in production and the experience gained during the implementation of the project.
